Cool City Comments

Good adaptations:

1. Using operable roof which is supposed to work depending on the weather. When the weather is hot like in the summer it will close up and reduce the sunlight that streams in. While in the winter it will use the natural air from the cool weather.

2. Encouraging people to recycle more. More supermarkets should emulate GĂ©ant hypermarkets in introducing deposit payments for recycling plastic bags.

3. Changing the lighting used in malls to fluorescent bulbs. This will help reduce the bill and it is believed that is more efficient incandescent bulbs.

Bad adaptations:

1. Making the cities cooler and more eco-friendly will be costly. Building towers to reduce Co2 and making walkways cooler, the $22 billion project of Masdar city will be environmental but on business view it will cost a lot of money to build.

2. Water will be a main source and will be used more. The water consumption will increase and with the days passing water will be hard to get or desalinate to offer to consumers.

3. It might be impractical because people would have to walk instead of using cars or other sources of transportation.
