My Carbon Footprint: Problems & Solutions

My name is Ahmed Al Muhairy and I am going to talk about my carbon footprint. First of all, the term carbon footprint means the area of land and ocean you consume as a person and your requirements of food, goods, services, housing, energy and waste. In the website http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ my score was 2.37 so this means that I am living in more than two earths. Using http://www.myfootprint.org/ I scored 15.32 earths which were pretty bad. I am going to identify 3 main problems that led to my high score (one score?) in the quizzes.

First was that I do not recycle anything whether paper, plastic or metal which doesn’t help to reduce the waste in the country. Second, I tend to use my car on a daily basis as a means of transport and a car is a huge source of air pollution. Finally, I eat a lot meat and dairy products the only good thing I could find from the results of my quiz was that I don’t heat my house a lot because it doesn’t get that cold in the UAE.
One of the things I should do is try to recycle any material I have bought and encourage members of my family to do the same using the recycle place near Spinneys. Recycling is important because it helps to turn waste into useful materials.
Another solution would be to not use my car all the time and try walking to nearby places, also going with a friend or using public transport would be better. Finally making my diet healthier by cutting down on meat and dairy products and making vegetables the main source of my meal instead of meat products
.
In conclusion I didn’t know that I was having such a huge impact on the world. I believe that everyone should do these questionnaires and look at what he or she can do in order to reduce his or her carbon footprint.
